Cusco – Acomayo – Waqrapukara – Cusco Very early, around 3:30 am, we will pick you up from your hotel to head to the starting point of our hike, 2.5 hours to the province of Acomayo, where we will enjoy the four-lagoon circuit of Acomayo.
We continue for 30 more minutes to Qenterococha Lagoon (4,330 m / 14,138 ft) where we will have a delicious breakfast. After breakfast, we will begin our hike to the Waqrapukara complex. During the hike, we can identify the flora and wildlife of the area.
Once we reach the first viewpoint of Waqrapukara, we will take a rest and then continue until we reach our objective. Finally we arrive at this incredible place, rest, and explore the archaeological center with our guide who will provide all the detailed information. Then you will have free time to explore and take photos.
We then begin walking back, but taking a different path that is easier and also has different viewpoints of the Apurimac Canyon. We return to the trailhead around 1:40 pm, where our private vehicle awaits and we will also have lunch. We return to Cusco around 7:00 pm.
Travelers doing the Waqrapukara trip must be in good physical condition and well acclimatized to altitude.
